A Break From The Ordinary
Excerpts from Dish, Long Island Voice
Dubbed the Tiger Lily Cafe, splashing out what they call alternative cuisine, the breezy woody space seems way larger now. It yawns far into the back, where funky furniture-slick counters and hunched tortoise-like tables and a Mad Hatter water color scheme brushes the walls orange and the tables swirling blue. While they focus on the ingredients list on the organic-garden growths that made California famous, they blast past the porabellos with pristine brie, havarti, pepperjack and blue cheese; whole wheat, pesto-garlic and sun-dried tomato wraps, and for your more decadent, meat-eating moments—grilled chicken, hickory smoked turkey and honey-maple ham. Delicates like sliced pears go into the dishes as often as they do the fresh-squeezed juices and verdant salads. You can pig out here gracefully and need not worry about your body calling you a traitor in the morning.
