| | | lternative Arts of Long Island is proud to present Illuminati Murdock, a multi-media collaborative created by artists showcased on www.altartli.com.
n July 26, 2005, the idea of a collaborative project was posted on our message boards. The idea was to designate a portion of the site for artists to put together pieces that could incorporate any kind of creative input from other artists on the site. The format for this would allow a member to submit a piece of work that would be posted online in which other members could download it, add to it and resubmit the piece.
s the idea evolved, members such as theDEXorphan, Eric Hurnyak and Brain Stevens of The Needs started getting together in February of 2006 to collaborate musically and begin the process.
he concept of the music is based on a free flow of ideas that incorporates improvisational guitar and bass jams combined with textures, digital samples and percussion to create a new sound. These jams have become a regular event and are open to other artists/members who would like to sit in and contribute or just check out live.
ortions of these jam sessions have been posted here on the site in which we invite other members to contribute digitally through film, audio, spoken word, animation or remixes of the original tracks. We have posted mixed down versions of these jams, but I.M. registered members have the ability to access the individual tracks as well.
wenty minutes worth of these jam sessions will be put up on the site and will rotate every 4 weeks. Each incarnation/evolution of a piece will be posted on the site in which we ask everyone who checks them out to vote on which one they like best through our message boards. The collaborative piece that receives the most votes will make its way out of the shed and into a permanent place in our gallery.
n order to digitally contribute, you must be an I.M. registered member.
